- It’s in the Bahamas duh – location, location, location.
Nassau is the capital – BAHAMAS! (haha, iykyk) With direct flights from major cities in the United States, Nassau is very accessible and an easy trip for a weekend experience such as Bahamas Carnival Experience (BCE) Just look at the views!!!!
- It’s the perfect carnival for those who like short carnival experiences and/or have limited time to spend abroad.
With the major events such as Amnesia and Insomnia taking place Thursday to Sunday, BCE allows for a quick Carnival experience away if you are limited on PTO or are a newbie. Road March/Parade Day typically happens on the Saturday of BCE weekend.
- It’s a great mix between road, fetes, and concerts.
The best way to sum up BCE would be that it is a great mix between a traditional Carnival experience in the Caribbean and a 3-day music festival.
- You’ll get a chance to enjoy so amazing Bahamian food – emphasis on the cracked conch and tropical conch salad! An absolute must!
I think about the tropical conch salad and cracked conch from Drifters at Da’ Fry on a regular! The conch salads are as fresh as they can get and are made-to-order right in front of you. Make sure you get a Sky Juice/Gully Wash to go with your conch as well. Sky Juice is a coconut flavored alcoholic drink that is extremely refreshing and pairs really well with conch. It’s giving tropixx!
- You’ll get a taste of Bahamian culture.
From rake and scrape to Junkanoo, you’ll most likely hear it all. BCE 2023 included a live on-road performance during Parade Day by Bahamian artist Nishie LS singing her hit song “Loose Me.” I’m sure the experience will leave you wanting to return to the Bahamas to experience more during Junkanoo just like it left me feeling.
